Blessed Love! I have a 1996 e39 528i rhd 5hpzf18 with the trans fail safe indicator on, haven't scanned it yet but got the fluid changed. When it's in D I have no 1,2 & 3 gears, it goes directly to 4th gear. Reverse comes and goes.
Need help to fix Positive Battery Cable to turn off srs light. I got a 530i 2001, went to the dealership told me that the ohms was too low for battery safety terminal and they are asking about 1000$ to replace that cable. I was reading in some other post that he replaced the wire with a fuse of .25 A i believe.
Yep, the three batteries below are all mfg'd by Johnson Controls (just like the Optima), have specs good enough to run the e38/e39 BMW and can be found in most parts of the USA (the interstate can be found in Canada, too) and come with pretty good warranties as well ( 2yr free replacment/5 yr prorated). This car is super sensitive to current and voltage so that could fry something. Either with your tool or the obc check to see the voltage while running. Should be above 13.5, preferably 13.8+ if I recall. If not, check your voltage regulator before replacing the alternator. My BMW E39 528i transmission is in limp mode, stuck in 4th gear, fault light on dash, Scanned Trans ecu with 2 scan tools getting same code 2- P/N shift lock. I replaced the inhibiter switch on the side of the transmission with a good second hand one, this acheived nothing.
